Recognizing Outstanding Explorers
February 16, 2017 - Ashlar Lodge No. 98 recognized an outstanding officer and two explorers from the St. Johns County Police Athletic League's Explorer program tonight. We recognized Deputy Wesley Grizzard as an outstanding leader and Explorer Lt Hannah Stegall and Explorer Tierney McCann as outstanding members of the program.
Information about the program:
The Explorer program is a program for young men and women ages 12 – 21. The program is designed to build strong relationships with law enforcement while teaching participants about the profession. Explorers work firsthand with law enforcement officers, creating an opportunity to bridge the gap between youth and law enforcement. Participants must be in good standing in the community, keep up their grades, and not be in trouble with law enforcement
They meet on Monday nights from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm at the Sheriff’s Office (across from the courthouse), in our squad room at 4455 Avenue A, St. Augustine 32095 (please note that the squad room is located behind the main Sheriff’s Office building and has a different address, so if you use a GPS or mapping system please use the Avenue A address). They have regular Monday night meetings throughout the school year and have a Leadership Challenge, a week-long camp during the summer, as well as other events that come up throughout the year.
